Apr. 11 - 22

Surprise! The snow was a great source of fun on the playground!  We have also been hard at work learning about the environment, plants and animals. We learned how to "read" a tree cookie for clues to its lifecycle and painted tree cookies to create Land Art with them in the coulee.  In science, we drew plant and animal life cycles and planted tomato and bean seeds to observe germination. Did you know we are conducting actual science to submit our results to Tomatosphere? Some of our seeds have been to space! On Earth Day, we made artwork with our kindergarten buddies and helped them practice making detailed drawings and reading.

In writing, Grade 3s are writing comparison paragraphs about rainforest animals they are researching.  Grade 4s are continuing to learn how to develop characters through Pixar in a Box.  We started a new class novel called, "Wish Tree."

In social studies grade 3s learned about quality of life, human rights and children's rights. Grade 4s learned about treaties and reserves. In math, we are exploring fractions through Math Talks and fraction games. In gym we have been learning floor curling!
